Bringing up a new generation of young, talented, creative actors!

Since reopening in 2015, the Oakland Center for the arts has been reintroducing the scope of theatre that was performed there from its inception. Though currently, youth theater has been the predominant focus, we plan to bring back unique productions and shows that drew people to the Oakland in years prior.
Here are all of the previous listings of productions since we opened our online website.

Camp Showbiz 2019

Our 4th Successful year!

The best way to get your child involved in our program is to start with our summer program
This year it runs from June 10-21 Mon-Thur 8:30-1:30. We give them a continental breakfast, and a homemade lunch. Cost for the two week camp is only 130.00 which is the most affordable summer camp in the area.
During the camp we will pack a lot new lessons and techniques for all of our kids.
Pat Fagan, who ran the children's theatre program for the over 30 years, will do two workshops one week will focus on drama. and one week will focus on comedy.
Donna Downie, Brendan Byers and Oakland staff will cover both the music of "Beauty and the Beast" and "Frozen" ( we will be presenting beauty and the Beast at the end of the summer, and Frozen in late fall early winter)
We will also have an "audition workshop" and we will produce a music video, with all we learned packed into the two weeks!

Spaghetti Dinner

ElHatton David Memorial Scholarship Dinner fundraiserThis is a scholarship program named by the Oakland Center's Acorn Project Youth Board of Directors for local performer and director David El'Hatton. The Acorn Project is one of a kind program for high school-aged teenagers that fully immerses them in all aspects of theatre. With the help of professional theatre mentors, they get hands-on experience in directing, choreographing, light, sound, and set design, and construction.
To give the kids full exposure to how theatre works, they also design and implement the marketing and promotions, create budgets, and manage a bank for numerous junior shows during a season around the theatre program.

The main character feels self-conscious about her freckles, especially when other kids make comments and give her a nickname she doesn't like.
